Stock differences and reconciliation
TaroStack compares its count with Shopify's every day and asks what to do about any difference.
What it does
Stock check compares TaroStack's count with Shopify's, once a day or whenever you ask. When two counts differ, TaroStack lists both, or sets Shopify to TaroStack's count if you've chosen that.
When to use it
Use it after somebody edits a count in Shopify, or whenever a customer finds a product oversold. Work through any open differences each week.
Before you start
Match the variant, and open your store under Settings › Integrations.
Steps
- Under Stock check, choose what happens under When counts differ: List them for me or Keep TaroStack's count.
- Press Check now.
- Wait for the check to finish. The line under Stock check says how many were in step.
- For a listed difference, press Keep TaroStack's count to update Shopify, or Leave as is to change nothing.
What you should see
With a difference of 45 in Shopify and 50 in TaroStack, the list shows both counts. Keep TaroStack's count sets Shopify to 50. Leave as is closes the row and leaves Shopify at 45.
Good to know
A difference you left as it was comes back only if the numbers change again, so a deliberate difference doesn't nag.
If a sale happens between somebody looking and the change being sent, nothing is overwritten, and TaroStack shows the new difference instead.
You get one notification per store, not one per product.
If the same difference keeps coming back, the match is usually wrong, or somebody is editing stock in Shopify.
