Returns and refunds
A return in Shopify restocks the unit in TaroStack once, in the lot it left in.
What it does
A return processed in Shopify puts the stock back in TaroStack with a reason of customer return. If the item is tracked by lot, the unit goes back into the lot it left in. The refund is recorded on the order too.
When to use it
Use it when a customer returns something to your store and you handle the refund in Shopify.
Before you start
The order is fulfilled.
Steps
- In Shopify, open the order and press Return.
- Create the return with No shipping required, or with your usual shipping.
- Press Process, then refund it with Restock ticked, and choose the location.
- In TaroStack, open Stock and find the item, then open Sales and open the order.
What you should see
Stock shows the unit back at the location, once. The Sales list says Refunded on the order's row, and the record lists the refund with what came back.
Good to know
Shopify's plain refund screen offers no restock on a fulfilled order, so the stock stays out. Use Return when the goods come back.
You can also record a return in TaroStack, from the shipment that sent it. See Customer returns.
A refund without a return comes off your sales, and doesn't change stock.
