Production costing
A batch costs what its ingredients actually cost, plus anything you add.
What it does
TaroStack works out what each batch really cost. Ingredients are priced as they leave the shelf, at what you paid for those lots, including freight.
When to use it
Read it when you set a price, when a margin falls, or when a supplier raises a price.
Before you start
The ingredients have costs, from a delivery or a standard cost. The batch is finished.
Steps
- Open Recipes and open the recipe to read COST PER BATCH, at current costs.
- Open Production and open a finished order to read WHAT IT'S COSTING.
- Compare The recipe says, per ea with what the batch really cost.
What you should see
The recipe gives a cost from today's prices. The finished order gives the actual cost, and that cost becomes the cost of the new lot.
Good to know
Waste is part of the cost of the good units.
Extra money, such as labor for the run or a co-packer's fee, can be added to a batch and goes into its cost.
When a batch makes more than one thing, the main output carries the whole cost, and the others cost nothing.
Costs are visible only to roles allowed to see them. See Roles and permissions.
