Bills of materials and kits
Use one recipe inside another, or sell a kit made of other products.
What it does
In TaroStack, a recipe is the bill of materials. An ingredient can be something you make yourself, so one recipe can feed another. A kit is a recipe that packs finished products together.
When to use it
Use a made ingredient when you prepare something in advance, such as a paste used in three products. Use a kit for a gift box or variety pack.
Before you start
The ingredients have items, and any made ingredient has its own recipe.
Steps
- Open Recipes, then press New recipe.
- Choose the Kind, and the Item it makes.
- Add each ingredient or product, with its quantity.
- Press Save and use.
- Make the made ingredient first, because a batch takes stock of it from the shelf.

What you should see
The list in Recipes says kit on a kit, and lists how many ingredients each recipe has. A batch that's missing a made ingredient says Short, and it names what's short.
Good to know
A batch needs its made ingredients on the shelf, so TaroStack doesn't make them for you. Planning suggests the batches you need, in order.
A made ingredient's cost carries through to whatever uses it.
